ABOUT SERENDIPITY: THE CHOIR:

takes19

Serendipity: the choir is a Southern Highlands community choir, founded in February 2008 and based in the village of Bundanoon, NSW. Currently there are 36 singers in this dynamic ensemble, which aims to provide choral pleasure and enjoyment for the wider community. Various repertoires are selected for each 'themed' concert.

SERENDIPITY'S REPERTOIRE:

The music covers many centuries, from the Medieval to the contemporary, with and without accompaniment, and in styles we range from 'classical' through folk, popular, jazz, madrigal and sacred. Serendipity: the choir is now commissioning local composers to write works specifically for us.

WHERE SERENDIPITY PERFORMS:

Serendipity: the choir aims to present two major performances with the full choir each year, repeating the programme at least twice in different venues.

We are regularly invited to participate in other musical events - the Highland Proms, Highland Tattoo, performances at retirement villages in Camden and Bargo - and smaller 'slices' of Serendipity have sung at weddings, or simply in venues which are too small for the complete group.

Some of our performance venues include:

  • Bowral Uniting Church Hall - venue for our annual concert series
  • Bundanoon Soldiers' Memorial Hall - venue for our annual concert series
  • Dormie House, Moss Vale - 'Christmas in July' Day Tour
  • Southern Highlands Christmas Fair - held at Southern Highland Vineyards, Sutton Forest
  • St Mark's Church, South Hurstville - a venue for our annual concert series
  • St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn - a venue for our annual concert series
  • Warrigal Care Annual Fundraiser - an event for Warrigal Care centres
  • 'Waratah Highlands', Bargo and 'Carrington', Camden Retirement Villages - venues for smaller 'slices' of Serendipity performances

PRAISE FOR SERENDIPITY: A SAMPLE

'The voices soared at Serendipity's concert at Bundanoon today [Flights of Fancy] - what a beautiful performance - the man sitting next to me said he had not heard such beautiful singing from a choir in many decades - well done.'
